Musicians and dancers love the double-sprung wood dance floor, with sound from speakers built into the exquisitely slatted wood dome roof, jazz-hall inspired for magical acoustics. A glass triangle at the top of the dome brings light into the round hall, where pine walls carry the scent of the forest and none sit at a right angle. It is intended to feel like a womb, much like the healing intention of the consulting and treatment rooms.
Heartwood Center extends Path to Health beyond one-to-one care into community: education, events, and aligned practitioners. Alongside the main space is the Art Barn, an intimate room for around eight people to meditate into art creation.
The setting
The permaculture garden, the mountain views, and the Cape Town light are part of what the space offers, a place people want to spend a day, or a weekend, in. A broad timber deck wraps the hall, its old trees growing straight through the boards, a patio for tea breaks, quiet conversations, and sessions that move outdoors when the weather invites it.
